A Gregorian Guild: St. Lucy's Christmas Wheat Kit
This kit from our Gregorian Guild Series presents the ancient European tradition of growing Christmas wheat as a gift for the newborn Savior.
On the feast of St. Lucy (December 13), use the materials included in the Christmas Wheat Kit to sow the wheat. The little daily care given it is flavored with the joy of expectation for the approaching birth of Our Lord and spreads the spirit of cheerfulness as the tender plant reminds us of our spiritual rebirth through the mysteries of Christmas.
On Christmas morning, the decorated dish of sprouted wheat greens is carried to the family's nativity scene to offer to the Infant King, reminding us that He was born in a manger in the city of Bethlehem, the "House of Bread."
This kit introduces the "Worshipful Company of Gardeners" and includes the history of the guild with prayers, plus everything you need to grow your own: wheat seeds, dish, soil, dried wheat stalks, ribbon, and beeswax candle. Just add water and light!
"O all ye things that spring up in the earth, bless the Lord."
